Stinky Feet

A day in the life...

This is what our nights are like:

Family Piano Recital

Mae played at a family piano recital.  You could tell she was nervous, but she got through it and did just fine!

Solo

Duet with Kylie

Backyard Fun

The best way to beat the heat is with water and ice cream!

Chubbs has her own flotation devices - I didn't test them out though

Swimming and ice cream - life is good

All the girls

Hoops Camp

Mae went with her friend Cora to a 2 day basketball camp at Loveland HS.  Why anyone would put on a basketball camp for Kindergarten girls is beyond me ($$$), but regardless, she had fun, and wants to be a baller.

Nothing says baller like a swimsuit, skirt, and hand on the hip!

Ash at 2 Months

Another month down and this baby continues to grow - mostly in the cheeks.  Two months!

Swimming Progress

All of our girls have made great progress in their fear of the water - err...swimming.  Brooklyn has never really been afraid of the water and moved up to the next swimming level first.  Mae moved up shortly thereafter, and Anna just needed ONE more fear to overcome before moving up, but we took a swimming hiatus for a little bit.  She's close though!

Mae made a lot of progress the week she had a sub and was the only one in the class
Brooklyn and I always had a lot of fun
The best part of the pool is when all the girls are having fun - it's so loud in the pool area that you can't hear Ashley when she cries!

Anna loved having Sam for the one week when we had to reschedule her class (Sam graduated both Brooklyn and Mae)

The Wheels on the Bus...Are Just Parked in the Lot

Mae had to go get hearing and eyes checked for Kindergarten.  So, Dad took her and Anna, and we even got to check out a bus - that was a dream come true.

She quickly found out that boys and buses aren't the greatest mix

Sitting in Dad's most sat in seat growing up (and team bus rides as well)

Anna getting the benefits of having an older sister going to school (just 1 more year for you, Ann)

Ash at 1 Month

Ashley, despite the "too much love" theme we got going on in our house, survived her first month.  She's still got a lot of hair and a lot of cheeks!

No Longer Pickin' Her Wedge

Mae had a great Spring Soccer season.  She started on the Purple Cheetahs "less aggressive" team and then was aggressive enough to move up to the "aggressive" team.  That's right after she had games of 2 goals, 6 goals, and 12 goals, respectively.  Even though it took some getting used to - she belonged.  In the last 3 games of the season she scored 5 goals in those games.  She's come a long way from the girl who picked her wedgey for 3 quarters of her first game in the Fall.

Weekly Sunday Hospital Runs

One week after Ashley was born, I was sitting in my church meetings.  My phone rang - it was Lindsey.  I didn't answer.  A couple minutes later, my phone rang - it was Lindsey.  Could something be wrong?  I packed up my bag and headed out the door and while I was headed out my phone rang again - it was Lindsey.  "Brooklyn just hit her head...she's going to need stitches."  Apparently she tripped on the changing pad and caught the drawer of the TV stand.  So, another Sunday, another trip to the hospital.  We were there a long time, but through it all - waiting, numbing, waiting, gluing, waiting - Brooklyn was a champ (glad it wasn't any of the other girls)!  Nothing like a family of six hanging out for a few hours at Children's Hospital!

Quite the gash

Waiting for the numbing to fully execute - while eating lunch

I didn't even get a chance to change

How many people does it take to stitch (glue) a 2 year old?

Four - doctor, nurse, entertainer, and Dad

Happy as can be!

Ashley Comes Home

After a long Sunday and a long night...Lindsey was ready to come over as soon as possible.  Once we were home, there was no shortage or love to go around for Ashley.

A few last moments before the baby-obsessed sister wakes up

Brooklyn woke up fussy from her nap - this cheered her right up when she heard who was home

Everybody look straight ahead...

...okay everyone look the same direction as Ashley.  SMILE ANNA!

Four Real...Ashley Ruth 4/10/16

April 10, 2016 was not another day of false alarms - Ashley Ruth Schlensker joined our family.  The most common reaction to little Ash - "Wow! Look at all that hair!"  Lindsey once again - was awesome.  Unlike Brooklyn, Lindseyshe even had to push once to get Ashley out.  My timeline notes:

2:30am Todd wakes up to Lindsey's 3rd contraction - she says "I'll let you know"
3:10 Brett comes
3:40 Lindsey goes to room
3:55 Todd rejoins Lindsey
Stephanie triage nurse- still 4cm -
Dani came to visit for while
started to walk at 4:25
Didn't get far - painful contraction (supposed to get rechecked at 5:00)
Lindsey demanded 4:45 check and at 5cm
Admitted - epidural at 5:40 (Room 3111)
Amanda - nurse
6:12 7cm
New nurse - Dawn
8:30 - 9cm
Dr. Altman comes to deliver (Mae had Wang, Anna had Jackie Martin , and Brooklyn had Wang)
Ashley Ruth 8lbs 7oz at 8:55am 21-1/4"

In triage for the 2nd time in the last 55 hours

But triage didn't last long

Always a very sweet pregnant woman...once the epidural is in

Her first picture

Ummm - are they supposed to be that purple?

Someone just informed her she looks like Aunt Kylee as a baby

Clean 'er up!

Big baby

Love the eye goop

Two beautiful girls

Never been a big "BIG bow" guy - but this is the first child we've had where they've had these and I think they are terrible and awesome all at the same time

Yes - sleep child...sleep

Mom is always ready to eat minutes after

We've never had a thumb sucker - we're not going to start now

After her first bath

Sorry Ash - the quiet time in your life is now over
