Saying Goodbye to the Last of Blue Ash Road

On a bittersweet day, we laid Uncle Pete to rest.  It's always sad to see someone you care about pass on, especially when it meant so much to me growing up back in the private confines of Grandma and Grandpa's house across the street from Uncle Pete and Aunt Connie's on Blue Ash Rd.  Now they are all gone or as what I once said when I was little that made Grandma Fish laugh so hard (and quote many years after), "They are outta here!"  It was a special and good day - and the four of them are finally together again. -T

Say hi to Grandma and Grandpa Fish for us

Without losing the reverence of this post - to answer your question, yes, Mae is wearing warm-up pants under her dress (but she didn't during the funeral)

R.I.P. Uncle Pete!

A tender moment

And then they fought each other with sticks

Welcome to the Hall

There is no way on this earth a coach with his resume shouldn't be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame the first year he is eligible.  I am very happy that the Hall of Fame Committee agreed with me.  We all went to support Papa D (I think that's the name they even put on the plaque) as he was inducted into Madeira's Hall of Fame.  Mae and Anna LOVED the football game.  For many days following this Mae wanted to play football in the backyard where she was the blue team and either Mom or I was the red team.  She's smart - as when we left at halftime the "blue team" was up big! Congrats Papa D - we are all so proud! -T

Class of 2013

Welcome!

The accolades could (or at least should) have gone on all night

Super cute Anna lovin' the game!

Beautiful night with beautiful girls

Totter's Otterville

With Uncle Scott, Aunt Nikki, Max, and Evey in town, Grandma and Grandpa took everyone to Totter's Otterville.  I gotta say I've lived in Cincinnati a long time and I've never heard of it.  I personally wasn't there but from the pictures and what Mom tells me, it looked like a pretty fabulous time. -T

Checkin' out the bunny

"Look Mom!  He's really doing it" (then scrunching her nose like a rabbit does)

Stretching out for a performance?  Or just doing some tricks? Or caught in the act of falling over?

So which one is the real Anna and Grandma?

Uhhh...Anna...don't move!  There's a giant elephant behind you!

"Whoa!"

Getting her fish on

Better luck if you put it in the WATER, Anna!

There you go!  Thank you Grandpa!

She always has looked a little Egyptian

Max and Mae

Well...this should be interesting...trying to get a decent picture with 3 girls under 3?  Good luck

Evey - look at the camera!  Anna - what is that face, really?  Mae - put your pants back on!  Good smiling Grandma!

There you go, Evey!  Now Smile!  Anna, stay there, but good smiling!  Mae, what is that face?  And seriously, put some pants on!  Still putting out good smiles there, Grandma!

I say we call this one the winner - and thank you for putting on some pants, Mae!

I wonder if anybody has ever tried climbing up that bad boy

I believe Max's exact words were, "Get in the kitchen and make me some pie, woman!"

Anna fell for it...while Mae enjoys some pie herself (and in case you were wondering, Max is too nice to say something like that)

A little grocery shopping to the end the day

Who Needs Real Toys When You Have an Imagination and a Sister?

Sometimes I wonder why we buy toys for our kids.  Can't marker caps and boxes work just fine?  Apparently they can. -T

Good ol' Edward Markerhands

It doesn't get old

Toy car?  Toy boat?  Toy couch?  No need - an empty box will do just fine

Then when the "toys" are all done they've got each other

Mae must be a really good story teller based on Anna's reaction

Bad Habits in the Park

Mom and the girls met up with Grandma and Grandpa at Washington Park for some end of summer fun.  They girls really enjoyed themselves.  A nice couple even let Mae hold the leash and walk their dog.  That was a BIG highlight.  However, now she expects everyone she sees to let her hold their leash and walk their dog. Oh, and Anna got soaked and Lindsey forgot she's not from Kentucky. -T

Anna + Water = Bad Outcome

Grandma and the girls

Mom and Mae

Who's the redneck baby!?  This nice couple was pretty generous with their dog and just to clarify - the car with a dry shirt was not close

Nevermind the red neck baby with the pot belly, check out the guy...look at the size of that dude's arms! (You're welcome, Anna)

Driving Sisters Crazily Around

I remember having to push Mae around in a diaper box for forever - which ended up in a very tired back.  Now Mae and Anna have each other they can do that with! My back's never felt so good! -T

Diaper box cars are the best!

I wanna say Anna is having fun

See...not so easy after awhile is it there, Mae?

Of course you're happy, Anna, you're not the one whose back is about to pop

Cute girls

I'm not sure you two can do this for much longer if you want to keep that box intact

Atta way, Anna!

O-HI-O!

Scott wanted to take his boys to an Ohio State football game so they came into town and with the help of Papa D (and the Gulick's) we got 6 tickets to go so Scott and his three boys with Papa D and me tagging along headed up early for the Bucks opening game versus Buffalo.  We had a good time with the pep rally, festivities, and game.  Not so fun was the sunburn I ended up with, but overall fun nonetheless. -T

Pep Rally in St. John's

Heading into the 'Shoe

Script Ohio - you can't tell?

Better?

College Football season is the best!

Let's get it on!

It got really crazy when the players ran and attacked the camera crew

Not their best game, but we saw a winner!
